Ailaviu aka Martin Borini is an audiovisual designer from Argentina.
His projects range from outdoor scenarios and museum rooms to high-tech interior design, audiovisual performances and installations.
Ailaviu uses video as the main tool of his research and development, championing the minimalist approach to audiovisual arts.
His colour palettes are usually quite restrained and pale, giving us the chance to directly appreciate the essential geometric shapes and lighting patterns (often achieved through LED).
His analytical use of basic video elements reveals the structure that rigs the audiovisual composition.
Researcher and DIY developer, he mainly focuses on the audiovisual medium in the digital information era.
Ailaviu aims to show the true essence of video through the use of light, which you can easily recognize as the main object of study across the different stages of his work.
Lights per Seconds
This immersive installation has been presented at Mutek Argentina in 2017. Lights per Seconds showcase all the main elements featuring Ailaviu artistic approach.
This other-worldly space is disorienting and stripped back. It features a clever use of pitch black moments to enhance the lighting and video patterns building up from the electronic music composition.
Within this landscape all spatial and time references are lost and the audience is purely guided by the audiovisual inputs, triggered by the VJ and the DJ.
The result is a hypnotic and trance-inducing experience for the viewers empowering them to appreciate the sound and visual composition as a whole.
